News from EUROGI Members – LATGIS: Invitation to Latvian Geospatial Information Technology Conference

Latvian GIS Association organizes Latvian Geospatial Information Technology
Conference on December 8, 2017 at the Academic Center for Natural Sciences of the
University of Latvia. The aim of the conference is to create a common understanding
of the geospatial information technology sector in Latvia, its challenges and
development trends.

This kind of conference in Latvia has not taken place for several years. Different area-
specific themes and issues have been touched on a number of occasions during events

organized by several organizations, but this is an opportunity for all stakeholders to
exchange the latest information, to gain an insight into achievements of the field and to
engage and to foster the development of geospatial information technology in their
organization or company.
Conference program includes presentations from both – local geospatial information
policy creators and promoters and geospatial information technology developers.
Achievements, current challenges, experience of foreign representatives and other
relevant topics, including issues related to the opening of data and technology, will be
presented at the conference. Detailed conference program will be published shortly. We
advise you to follow up on the conference news on the homepage of the Latvian GIS
Association http://gisbiedriba.lv/lv
Participation in the conference is free of charge, but the number of participants is
