EUROGI:European Umbrella Organisation for Geographic Information

This year the annual conference GIVS 2012 (Geoinformation in Public Administration) of Czech geoinformaticians and GI user community will address two main topics: competitiveness and security. This congress organised by CAGI (Czech Association for Geoinformation)  aims to monitor the progress of long-time activities and projects, as traditionally we generalize there particular outcomes and strategies, and formulate the recommendations how to govern the NSDI development.

GIVS 2012 invites also speakers from abroad to transfer and share the specific GI management and to overcome the "GI encapsulation". Modern trends and innovations in geoinformatics are not only a gameplay of reserachers, the modern spatial information, the related know-how and GI knowledge represent competittive advantage.

The main goal of GIVS 2012 is a declaration based on smart arguments about economical and legal aspects of modern geoinformation. The Spatial Data Infrastructures and its mandatory processes are in general factually underestimated. Czechia similarly to other countires loose its advantages reached in GI technology as we didn´t succeed yet to explain the strategic value and economic consequences of integrated geoinformation to the political representation. Geoinformation Policy should be an explicit part of the nearest strategic plans. GI industry is main engine of SDI progress. Its products and services  represent a chance and a part of proactive solution of contemporary economical recession, but must be supported by governments, and the achieved SDI effectively used and protected as a part of integrated infrastructure, the advantage and "neuron network" of our civilisation.

GIVS 2012 conference will discuss the security in relation to  sensitive large scale geodata. INSPIRE outputs will be considered as a phase on long-time route  to knowledge society and competitive economy. The Czech geoinformaticians understand well the advantages of European integration and play the role of valid nad reliable collaborators. The advanced expertise must serve to common interests, security, and affluence.
